Carnival 3: Cropover, Booze fete

Carnival 3: Cropover, Booze fete

Caribbean, Carnivals

Wake up, beach, breakfast. Then our last fete for cropover, the Booze cooler fete. This fete was the afternoon answer to morning Canboulay. It was just as good! Yep another dirty fete. Paint and powder.  People got real dirty. Again in an enclosed area next to the beach. A stage and a bar with verryyy friendly bar staff. I think one or two were intent on getting me drunk.

There were a couple of additions to this fete. First, there were water guns! Very good idea. Next, beds on raised platforms on the edges of the fete. I am not quite sure what the organisers thought would be happening but okkkkk. And the fete carried on into the night time. Was fantastic! Cuzzy had one leg cock up in the air. When he has one leg cock up in the air like that? You know he is having a good time. I remember energiser bunny literally rolling in the sand with a woman at one point. Davida was doing her own thing as well. Other friends from London attended this fete as well and everyone seemed to be having a killa time.

At the end of the fete we wait for a bit with Jessy as she waited for her taxi. Jay and Dellian found a full bottle of rum and they were VERY happy about their new discovery.

Headed to the Reggae Lounge, a local spot in St.Lawrence’ gap afterwards.  And it was seriously crowded. I was told that this was almost a last farewell for the American masqueraders who typically leave the island on the Wednesday morning. It was a bi of a musical change as it was mostly bashment. The crowd loved it. I guess I was still on a high from the Booze fete and still in soca mode. I stayed for a bit then left.

Wednesday was our rest day. What did we do? I guess this was the day when we all did our own thing for the day really. I met  up with my friend Sherry in the afternoon. Dellian and Jay decided to meet up with Sherry as well.  I was so happy to see her. Almost thought that I wouldn’t see her at all. Were it not for her among others, the knowledge and organisation of fetes and bands for cropover would not have gone so smoothly. Headed to Sheraton Mall to get a bite to eat. Afterwards we had a bit of a pub crawl around St.Lawrence’s gap later in the evening. Sherry’s brother John caught up with us and for a time reminisced about Trinidad carnival last year where we all met whilst having flavoured mojitoes. This was the end of Cropover for us.  Next stop, the spice island of Grenada.
