Carnival 5: England, Notting Hill, Shipwrecked!

Carnival 5: England, Notting Hill, Shipwrecked!

Carnivals, England

I loved Shipwrecked! Seriously, this reminded me of the top Trinidad and Barbados all inclusive soca events; the organisation, attention to detail, wrist bands, branded cups (loved mine, made sure I took it home), the floral necklace. This is all before you actually get into the event space.  If you missed this fete, well that is your business… and maybe Kermit the frog’s.  He seems to be commenting on everyone’s business these days.

The venue at Vinnopolis was spacious and well thought out.  Two bars (nice), a rum punch stand, the food area, a sweets stand which included a chocolate fountain, a photo shoot area, bull riding area, the dancing area which included a pinata floating overhead. Loved the lighting.  Yes the Shipwrecked team paid some serious attention to detail. They say the devil is in the details? Well there were a whole a heap of devils all over Shipwrecked.

The DJs were on top form, music blasting, feters having a good time. Again meeting friends old and new from the ruk a tuk event at shipwrecked, local as well as international friends. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Shelly-Ann? Emma? Ray? They were having a blast! Cuzzy had his leg cock up in the air a couple of times and do you remember what I said about that?  If you don’t, well you need to read my previous blogs. A couple of the braver ones went to try out the bull riding business. Ermm yes, about that? No. My outfit did not allow for that sort of thing.

My one disappointment was that the pinata had no sweets!! I was dancing with someone (can’t remember his name, all I know is that he was American) and we were close to the pinata when two guys started hitting the poor thing for all they were worth.  So I am waiting expectantly like a big kid hoping for some nice sweeties to drop out of the pinata. Not one sweet. Not one! At that point I’d even have settled for a cough drop.

Some peops  planned to go to Oh Gosh after this event as it ended at midnight. Shipwrecked was good enough for me. This event was really sweet. It could have gone on till 3am. £60.00 for all of that?  Sign me up again for next year!
