I love London fete.

I love London fete.

Carnivals, Europe

Imagine a friend of yours says I’m going to take you to a new beautiful sophisticated place tomorrow and we are gong to have roast pork (Hear me out, I’m going somewhere with this I promise you). So you are looking forward to this right? You loooove roast pork and it is going to be in this fantastic setting! But what actually happens is that your friend takes you to Roosters chicken shop! Now don’t get me wrong, I like chicken but it isn’t roast pork! And it is not in a glamorous place!  So you are seriously disappointed agreed?  This is what happened at this weekender in terms of planned events.

The weekender was advertised as Dame du show and Britjam collaboration.  And I thought to myself ‘ok Britain’s jamming’.  And I have been to Dame Du Show events in the past and I have always had a great time.  Nooooooo duuuuuuuuhhhh  dumb AC.  What is actually means in British Jamaicans!! Which meant it was all about the reggae/bashment influence of the Jamaican culture. Which also meant soca was non existent at this fete.  To say I was disappointed was an understatement. And the club was… not what I was expecting at all. To be fair though, my friends and I were not the only people who had arrived at that conclusion. But hey. We are independent people. So we left the club to do our own thing.

Cannes at night is absolutely gorgeous! We went liming along the promenade with the green light lighting our way, the sound of the waves and music in the background. The Cannes Salsa festival was underway.  There were couples dressed all in white dancing to salsa, bachata, kizomba right on a beach front bar which was lit up in purple. Some were dancing along the promenade itself!! The scene and effect to me was mesmerising and unforgettable! I was so tempted to join in. It took me right back to El Ranchon in Spain.

Many people were just hanging out, chilling on various random chairs on the promenade, enjoying the warm beautiful night. Sitting opposite the Salvatore Ferragamo and Dior Stores with the sound of the ocean at our backs, listening to Bon Jovi’s ‘In these Arms’, guys playing football at 2:45 am in the morning? Random moments like these on a holiday you never forget. It was such a perfect night.

Eventually, we take a taxi back to the hotel and wonder what on earth tomorrow will bring..
